chicago trip - July 4 weekend

Jeni thought it was a good idea if i did a "guest blogger" post. The last time I posted was before Simon was born.

Here's a few images of Simon at Millenium Park. This is an incredible park just near Lake Michigan in the heart of downtown Chicago. Our hotel was just a few blocks away. Check out how cool the large face is in the background. The image is actually a short film of one person's face. The image changes to another person after a while. It was a great way to people watch and wade with our long-time friends; Mike and Sara (notice Auntie Sara in the top right of the first photo).

Here's Auntie Sara helping little Simon on the slippery water. By the way - congratulations to Sara and Mike on their upcoming baby girl (due in Dec)!

Here's the park again at the "bean." Pretty cool and a great way for papa to bond with el chico.

Our dinner out at the Rainforest Cafe. This place was an amazing for kids (e.g. animated gorillas, elephants, birds, huge fish tanks) but really loud for regular diners without kids. Needless to say, he loved the environment but I would never go without kids. We still had a good time showing him around. Also, Simon decided to eat all sorts of things we normally can't entice him to eat. For example, grilled chicken, pasta with tomato sauce.

Back in Green Bay. Simon's loves to use crayons now (even where he shouldn't be using them). We're trying to restrict his use to this little table in our dining room. He love balloons - look closely, he's pointing to one he drew. He's so cute.

On the way back from Chicago we stopped at Ikea. Simon loved all the little people furniture and toys. He got this great little rocking horse that he absolutely loves. I can hardly believe how fast he learned to hold on and rock back and forth.

too bad we didn't connect while you were in Chicago, but it looks like you had fun! We'll have to make sure to get our little dudes together someday...
